About the Residency

In 2017 the Art Encounters Foundation launched its residency program dedicated to the young artists. Its purpose is to stimulate creativity, encourage the exploration of artistic practices in collaboration with the local artistic environment, facilitate cultural exchange, and establish a vivid and meaningful dialogue between communities and actors from various cultural fields.

In the context of winning the title of European Capital of Culture; and the AE Foundation organising the 3rd and 4th edition of the Art Encounters biennial in 2019 and 2021, Timisoara has all the prerequisites for becoming a focal point of the national and regional artistic interest. The rich cultural calendar announced by the proposed program for 2021 is based on the creation of a network between cities, people and various cultural areas that is able to sustain the long-term cultural development of the city.

The artist-in-residence program launched by the Art Encounters Foundation aims to become a permanent platform for experimentation, production and dialogue for young artists.

The artists who participated in the 2015 Art Encounters residency program are: Bogdan Armanu & Silvia Amancei, Biroul de Cercetări Melodramatice (Irina Gheorghe and Alina Popa), Mihut Boșcu-Kafchin, Alex Mirutziu.

The artists who participated in the 2017 Art Encounters residency program are: Raluca Croitoru and Liliana Basarab.
